We Made It - 1,200+ Miles!

Today Friday, we headed to La Paz, the capital of BC Sur.  The ride was uneventful and all paved.  Stopped at a truck stop in the middle of nowhere for a drink and some food - good fresh juice, "pan dulce".

La Paz was surprisingly nicer than expected.  Having an ocean so blue, next to a town where most of its buildings are painted white, in the desert, makes for a unique and beautiful setting.  When you add the laid back nature of a coastal Mexican town and the warmth of its people, it makes you wonder why we settle in places that are far less beautiful or why we always seem to be chasing something, working so hard, and not stopping to enjoy the people around you.

The plan was to do the coastal dirt road to Cabo tomorrow for fun but we will have to see how we feel. Two of us ate some bad seafood last night and are beginning to get the chills.

My friend Alex is letting us use two of his apartments in town. Very nice with incredible views!

Because we don't feel great (two of us sick, one with a dislocated foot, etc), and because, after 1,200+ miles across Baja, we decided to spend Saturday getting ready instead of riding.

We had breakfast and set out to wash our motorcycles.  They were filthy ... and now we don't even recognize them : )  We had to decide what to leave and what to pack ... then place the bikes in the storage room that my friend Alex is letting us use until we return in June for the second leg of the trip ... through Copper Canyon and on to Texas.

I have decided to leave everything here - except my passport and my iPad : )
