First Camp Day - Exhausted!

Our plan today was to head south towards a couple of nice bays in a very very remote area of Baja.  Then, head west across the peninsula to the famous Bahia de Ojo de Liebre - a world heritage site where whales come to spawn ... apparently you can come so close to them that you can touch them.

The first part of the road was gravel with some patches of sand. David wiped out on a nasty sandy turn and sprained his ankle.  Rob did a double somersault at some point also.  After a long and painful ride we made it to San Rafael ... a beautiful pristine bay with a town of one person ... Pancho. He has lived there, alone, for 30 years.  He has no car, no electricity, no water, no family, no food, no way to communicate with anybody, and at least 4-5 hours from anywhere ... he says his family are people like us, on motorcycles, that venture this far and stop by. He lives off the land and the sea and from stuff other people bring from time to time.

On our way to San Francisquito, things got from bad to worse ... sand got deeper, hard to keep the big bikes up, not knowing when the road would improve ... very spooky, with a lot of close calls.  We finally made it to San Francisquito, exhausted.

First, we had some amazing fish tacos at a "restaurant" there ... then we decided we were to tired to go anywhere so we to set up camp to get our mojo back.  We only made it half way our intended distance for today!

We are concerned about tomorrow ... still more than 100 km of hellish roads to get to pavement ... David and Rob have decided to hire the owner of the restaurant to load their bikes on the back of his pick up truck and drive them out of there.  Good decision!  David's foot is twice its normal size with a massive bruise all around.

Andy and I will be riding ahead of the truck ... we hope we can make it out of there!
